Early Memories

I was told about this website recently by someone who I was DMing with. I'm surprised it took me this long to discover it.
I have found swimming in my clothes fascinating since I was in middle school, when I used to go to the Bible Camp just outside of my hometown. There was this guy there one summer who was really fun, he was one of the guys in charge of things I think, and on the first night of camp we played this game down by the beach. We had to get into straight lines, which went out into the lake, and pass water all the way forward to fill buckets, and the first bucket that filled was the winner. I ended up having to go out into the water, and I was still wearing my full jeans because I didn't know we were going to be doing this, and I remember feeling really interested and kind of excited as I walked into the water up to my knees and my jeans got all wet. I had never done that before. As the game progressed, it seemed like the line spread out, and I was going deeper into the lake, until the water was up to my shoulders, soaking my white t-shirt. Everyone was having so much fun, and it was really hot (which is why we were doing this water game), so no one cared about getting their clothes all wet (I was the only one who was in full jeans though). The guy in charge told me he would toss my jeans into the dryer that night so they would be dry the next day, and he did.
The next day, he was hanging with our cabin, and he suggested to all of us that for fun, during our swimming time, we should all just go swim in our clothes, and he would dry them all that night. We all thought that sounded so fun. I put back on my clothes from the night before, and everyone else put on jeans and t-shrits, or whatever they felt like, and we all went down to the beach and had the best time jumping off the floating dock, floating on tubes, running from the beach into the water like Baywatch in all our clothes. And he kept his word and dried all our clothes.
Well, we all decided to keep doing that every day that week becuase we had so much fun.
And, that is how I discovered my love for this. I would go on trips in high school for sports and just jump in wearing my clothes, pretending like I forgot my swimsuit, or try to instigate something so I would get pushed in. When I had my license, I would find places to go swimming in my clothes when the weather was nice, and it feels like even today, I'm always hopeful for opportunities, and I try to take them whenever I can. I've tried to make moments happen like that with my own boys too, and it's always funny when it does.
I've always wondered if that guy liked doing that, and that was why he encouraged all of us do try it, or if it was just something fun and "campy" to do. Either way, I'm really grateful for him and the fun he inspired.
